‘The Box Seat’ is a concept for an original seat design aimed at a variety of users with multipurpose functions. Constructed from a limited amount and type of material using physical jointing techniques for assembly, it is demountable and meets standard ergonomic requirements.
 
Changeable, the seat functions as a standard chair, a stool, and a storage crate. Shifting between these functions only requires the movement of one individual panel. This increases the durability of the design whilst still providing the sustainability of re-using the piece in different ways.
 
Not only is the design suitable for the provided brief, but it could also be adapted to cater to a design ‘family’, wherein, a large chair and a small chair could be cut in such a way that one can be stored in another. Otherwise, all the pieces can be separated and stored flat.
